Chrno Crusade

Chara Info: Chrno is a demon with a heart of gold. He is sealed to Rosette, who wears the key to his locked power around her neck.
Why Him?: We (my boyfriend and I) have been watching Chrno Crusade at our monthly anime meetup here in Vegas, and we absolutely adore this show! The duo of Rosette and Chrno are absolutely perfect for us to cosplay ^^.
The Story: This costume wasn't exactly difficult to make, but there were some factors that made it a pain in the ass occasionally >.>.
We decided on a linen blend for the red parts of the costume. The white shirt is broadcloth, and the socks/armbands/cummerbund are stretch knit. The linen blend drapes nicely, has a great weight, and is easy to sew -- but MY GOD, does it wrinkle! I swear, you touch the stuff and it's wrinkled >.>. Most of the gold and silver accents are painted craft foam.
I altered Simplicity's Trinity (from The Matrix) pattern for the jacket. What a PAIN that was! I had to eliminate an awful lot of seams, not to mention put in those "spikes." The jacket alone took 1 1/2 days of solid work. The shorts were also quite annoying -- I don't remember Suu's shorts being that difficult :/. The rest of the costume was pretty straightforward, albeit time-consuming. Because of Anime Expo's masquerade rules, I had to make everything for this costume. That included the button-down shirt :/. The part of the costume I like the most is the socks. They turned out perfect! They're really adorable ^_^.
But the MOST difficult part of the costume was the wig. I'm not good with wigs to begin with, and this was certainly a challenge. I started with a Femme Fatale wig from Amphigory. I straightened it and cut the bangs and spikes. Then I pulled the rest back and added some extensions to create the braid. The initial styling took around 5 hours. Unfortunately, the wig generally has to be touched up each time it is worn, and usually takes about 1/2 hour to get back into shape.
All the trouble was worth it, though. Robbie makes an ADORABLE Chrno *_*. As usual, his costumes get attacked for pictures XD. He really enjoys wearing this, especially since he says it's a bit lighter than Tsukasa ^^.
Right before AniZona 2005 I ended up making a new wig for this costume. The first one sucked, plus Robbie is pretty hard on his wigs ^^. We had a bit of trouble trying to find the correct color for the wig, so I ended up chopping up the Grave Chrno wig. Poor Grave Chrno ;_;. Ah well, I'm pretty happy with the new wig, and it only took me a little over an hour to style!
