*Rosebud Fairy*
Original Design
Worn at: Las Vegas Renaissance Faire 2003
Chara Info: None available, since this is an original design.
Why Her?: I wanted a fairy costume for my first Renaissance Faire (and there was no way I was getting myself into sweltering period clothes!). As for this particular design, I kinda wanted something Sailorjupiter-esque. Hence the mass of green, pink, and rosebuds ^_^.
The Story: I made this thing in THREE DAYS. JEEBUS. So it's quite simplistic, but pretty ^_^.
The base dress is made from green and white stretch crushed velvet. Wal-Mart sells it for cheap XD. Once again I modified the famous Green Pepper skating dress pattern. The straps and the trim is just simple gold lame bias tape.
The side skirt (I didn't mean to copy X-2 Yuna, I swear!) is made from a pearlescent sheer material in pink and white. Once again it's bordered in gold bias tape, and embellished with little pink and white ribbon rosebuds. It gathers and ties on with a pink and gold rope.
The wings and headband (not pictured) were both purchased. The wings were from eBay, and I got the headband at the Renn Faire. I would like to make my own wings for this costume in the future so I could have a set that match better ^^.
This costume went over really well at Renn Faire. A few people said I looked like I stepped straight out of A Midsummer Night's Dream ^_^. It was fun to run around as a fairy and try to avoid being kidnapped XD. All in all, I have to say this costume's pretty nice for only 3 day's worth of work.
