*Tenou Haruka (Christmas Angel)*
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon

Event Worn At: Anime Vegas December Meetups 2005 and 2006

Chara Info: You already know about Haruka if you've looked at my other costumes. This outfit is from a Christmas-themed picture in the fifth artbook.

Why Her?: I've said it before and I'll say it again. Cosplaying Haruka/Uranus is so much fun! I've always wanted to do a Christmas angel from that particular piece from the fifth artbook, but I wanted to make it from fleece and fleece is expensive. So when I saw good-quality fleece go on sale for less than $2 a yard, I took the chance!

The Story: The most interesting thing about this costume is that it took me half a day to complete it. That includes shopping for the fabric XD. I brought the fabric home at 7:30 AM, and finished it by 7:00 PM.

Like I said, the main fabric is fleece. It's trimmed in faux fur. I used a pattern for the shirt, but not for anything else. The puff balls were found in the craft section of Joann. The boots are covers pulled over a pair of real boots :).

Since there were considerable problems trying to get wings from an eBay seller, I had to make my own. Instead of making traditional feathered wings, I made something a little more abstract. I sandwiched some very stiff interfacing in between a fuzzy fabric and sewed it in the general shape of the wings in the source art. They are VERY cute and more comfortable than a traditional pair of wings.

It's too bad that this is such a seasonal costume -- it can only come out of the closet once a year. But I had fun in it while I could.

When Robbie saw me in this, he insisted that I had to get my pic taken with Santa XD   About to transform. . .  Still about to transform. . .

You know what's funny? My nickname has been Tenshi for years, yet this is the first time I've cosplayed an angel!  Here's the back. Aren't the wings cute?  Here's me in a very un-Haruka-like pose and expression :P
