Chara Info: None available, since this is an original design.
Why Her?: I needed a new costume for Ren Faire this year, since I sold my Rosebud outfit. I was going to make another green/pink outfit, but everyone seemed to think I would make an equally good Ice fae. So I decided to differ from last year ^^.
The Story: Well, I ended up revamping it, so I'm pretty happy with the current look ^_^.
The white fabric used for the skirt and shirt is some POS stuff from Wal-Mart. It's horrible stuff that, in the first version I made, wouldn't have lasted through the Faire. That's why I went from that tight shirt to the loose chemise. I still don't like that fabric, but it's not going to fall apart any time soon ^_^. The sheer blue fabric was found in Joann's fashion fabric aisle. The white and blue flowered designs on the vest-type thing are blue cotton overlaid with a white semi-sheer fabric also found in Joann's fashion aisle.
I used no pattern on the design except for the vest, and that was a near duplication of Rosette's corset. Piecing together the costume did not take long at all, but what made the costume so tedious was the decorative stitch I used on nearly every hem. It's a diamond-shaped stitch made with gradient-dyed thread, so it's very eye-catching in person ^^. However, my machine takes FOREVER to create that stitch :/.
There are also a lot of beads on this costume. I forgot to take the beads off the cummerbund from v1 and attach them to the vest on v2. I also forgot to attach a big puffy sheer white bow I made, as well :/. I will be wearing this costume at Gencon in December with a lot of details added ^^.
