*Super Sailorjupiter*
SeraMyu (Sailormoon Musicals)
Worn at: Anime Expo 2003, Ani-Magic 2003, Las Vegas Comic-Con 2003, Anime Expo 2004, Anime Vegas 2004
Chara Info: Kino Makoto may appear boyish on the outside, but the rough exterior hides a loving, feminine heart. Her favorite hobbies are gardening, cooking, and kicking the ass in the name of love and justice. 'Coz she's also Sailorjupiter, y'know ^.-.
Why Her?: Jupiter has always been my favorite Inner Senshi (and my second favorite overall next to Uranus). I identified with her a lot when I was in middle school and just discovering Sailormoon ^_^. The reason for this particular costume was that I joined La Soldiers, a Seramyu cosplay troupe.
The Story: Holy jeebus, dudes, this is going to be long. Let's do a grocery list, shall we?
Leotard: White spandex, made with a modified Green Pepper skating dress pattern.
Skirt/Collar: Made from pink and green Casa collection crepe. The skirts are very large pleated circles, and the pattern for the collar I found here.
Bows/Glove Puffies: Originally made from tissue lame at Anime Expo 2003, these have been remade from interfaced tricot lame. I'm so happy; I think my bows look great now *_*.
Boots: I wanted to make covers, as per the original design, but I soon discovered putting eyelets through pleather is not fun >.>. So I sacrificed my favorite black boots and painted them green ;_;.
Trim: Thirty-two yards of gold pineapple pleat lame. It was hell trying to get that much of the stuff O_o. And oh, the beaded trim on the waistband can be found at Joann for about $1.25 a bottle. That's the cheapest part of the costume XD.
Choker: The band is crepe and gold lame, the star is a piece of plastic painted gold, and the jewel in the center is a rhinestone with the Jupiter symbol painted on.
Wig: Still on the no-go list. I haaaaaate wigs. My natural hair doesn't look *horrible* with this costume. . .just kinda inaccurate.
All in all, I've spent at least 150 hours on The Beast (as I nicknamed it), and I still don't consider it done. The back bow needs a bit of tweaking and I really don't like the collar (especially since I burnt it with the iron at Ani-Magic O_O;;). Once this is done, I will be happy, although I'll be happier if I can eventually get a wig ^_^.
Pictures
Note: Since this costume has (and will go through) so many revisions, I have left pictures up of every con I've worn it to, just so you can see its evolution ^_^.
