Worn at: Anime Vegas 2007

Chara Info: Oscar was raised by her father as a man. In pre-Revolutionary France, Oscar serves as head of the Palace Guard and is a close friend of Queen Marie Antoinette.

Why Her?: I just watched this wonderful vintage series (yes, I'm behind the times) and I am in LOVE. It was instantly one of my absolute favorites, and Oscar is exactly the type of character I adore. I may be stereotyping myself into a role, but I have to cosplay her XD. As for this particular outfit -- I was pleased to find a reference shot that combined the elegance of the blue jacket with the color of the red one.

The Story: I went into this costume thinking it would be simple. Oh, how wrong I was!

The jacket is the part that gave me trouble. It is a combination of red velvet and gold swirl brocade. I love the combination, but I had a horrible time trying to line the jacket! As a result, I would like to take it apart and re-line it.

The accessories were fairly easy. The medals were pieces I put together from parts I found at a local costume shop. The epaulettes are pieces of craft foam covered in the swirl brocade. The sash is something that requires no brain power after all the old-school Final Fantasy costumes I've done, and the belt is a white one painted pink.

I absolutely adore the wig! It's a Sepia Scarlet in color 22. I gave it a side part and cut some bangs into it, which took very little effort. I think the wig is the best part of the costume.

I wore this at Anime Vegas, but I did an impromptu photoshoot with some friends in a Nevada ghost town beforehand. Enjoy!
