*Raven*
Teen Titans
Worn at: Halloween 2004
Chara Info: Raven is the dark and mysterious member of the Teen Titans. She likes to hide in her room (blissfully away from Beast Boy) and snuggle up with a good book.
Why Her?: Starfire is my favorite Teen Titans member, but Raven is a close second. It's a bonus that Raven doesn't have an outfit that bares the midriff ^^;;.
The Story: It's UBER-GHETTO Raven!
*cough* Well, it's not THAT ghetto, but as it's just a Halloween costume, I wasn't going for the absolutely perfect look. The leotard is store-bought, the cloak fabric is very cheap dollar-pile stuff from Wal-Mart, and the wig is the wrong color. So yeah. I cut a lot of corners with this costume.
I followed a pattern for Fellowship cloaks for Raven's cape, only editing the hood. I was originally going to make bootcovers out of the same fabric, but since I ran out of time I just painted a pair of boots I found at Goodwill. I might still make bootcovers in the future. The wristbands are tubes of fabric with craft foam stuffed inside. The belt and the other orb parts of the costume are what I am most proud of. The red parts are halves of toy capsules painted inside, and the discs are plastic pieces painted gold. The belt is gold PVC vinyl sewed around a strap. It's all so shiny!
Overall, this is a pretty easy costume to wear. The only thing I'm really not happy about is the cut of the leotard. I wanted a low-cut leotard instead of it coming up all the way to my thighs, but beggars cannot be choosers. Even with two layers of tights, I still feel a bit self-conscious. Other than that, I really like this costume, and it will be GREAT to be recognized for once on Halloween!
