*Rosette Christopher*
Chrno Crusade
Worn at: Anime Expo 2004, Kool Kollectibles Commercial, Anime Vegas 2004, Ani-Magic 2004, AniZona 2005
Chara Info: High-spirited and quick to anger, Rosette is a gun-toting nun hellbent on destroying demons and finding her brother Joshua.
Why Her?: We (my boyfriend and I) have been watching Chrno Crusade at our monthly anime meetup here in Vegas, and we absolutely adore this show! The duo of Rosette and Chrno are absolutely perfect for us to cosplay ^^.
The Story: I normally don't go for the skanky costumes, but Rosette is irresistible ^^;;.
The main dress fabric is a slightly stretchy uniform material that has a lovely weight to it. All of the white trim was made from denim, which gives those areas that stiff look. The gloves are entirely hand-made from a stretchy, stiff woven material. What a pain those were >.>. The gold accents are all made from craft foam covered in gold crepe satin. The wig is a Gold Coin-colored Cleopatra wig from Amphigory. The collar was stuffed with craft batting and the black design was painted on.
Jess was nice and made me my pocket watch. She made it from Sculpey and hand-painted it. I love it -- it's very accurate!
This is probably my favorite costume of all time, so I've been slowly reworking parts I'm unhappy with. In September 2004 I remade the collar and veil. Both are made out of trigger poplin -- that stuff is awesome for anime costumes *_*. In late 2004 I made a replica of Rosette's gun. I don't have any pics of it with me while in costume, because at Anizona it was deemed to realistic to bring >.<. I've also purchased a new wig. I don't think it's quite as accurate as the previous color I was using, but it agrees with my complexion much better. Lastly for now, I've made a new pocketwatch, because I keep breaking the ones Jess makes me ^^;;. It has a real clock inside it, too!
Eventually, the entire dress will be remade, as I don't like how it fits me. The utility belt is the least accurate part of the costume, so I'm trying to find more of that green fabric to make the shoulder pads, holster, and back pocket. I'd like to make the corset an ACTUAL corset, but until I figure out a way to make the boning invisible, I'll stick with the old one ^^.
