*Rosette Christopher (Black Dress)*

Chara Info: High-spirited and quick to anger, Rosette is a gun-toting nun hellbent on destroying demons and finding her brother Joshua.
Why Her?: Because I'm freaking obsessed with Rosette ^^;;. I love cosplaying her, and since my wig(s) were so expensive, I figure I might as well do all of her outfits XD. I really like this black dress -- doesn't she look like a Bride of Death, or something?
The Story: This dress was generally easy, but I had a few brain farts over the course of making it, which increased its annoyance factor quite a bit >.>.
The dress was mostly self-patterned -- the bodice is a modified period pattern, but the sleeves and skirt were drafted by me. It's made out of Casa satin lined in acetate taffeta. "Lined in taffeta? How weird!" you say. It actually worked really well for this dress. It served to make the top stiff enough without boning, the sleeves poofy enough without itchy tulle, and gave the skirt definition without a petticoat. The crazy hemline was further reinforced by horsehair braid.
The collar was a huge annoyance >.<. It's made from grey Casa satin, and those triangles took FOREVER to sew and press. I don't really like how it fits, so I may remake it. . .but I really don't want to redo those damned triangles!
The veil is a half-circle of black crystal organza with a bow made from the same fabric as the dress. I like this veil much better than my Militia Rosette one -- this one doesn't weigh so much!
The scars are made with coagulating fake Halloween blood. I have tried quite a few scarring methods and this seems to work the best. I think the only way it's going to get better is if I custom-make latex scars, and I'm not sure if I'm that insane ^^;;.
I feel very comfortable in this dress, and for that reason I think it's going to get used a lot more than Militia Rosette from now on. I feel like a gothic princess! After a year, my Rosette obsession is still going strong :).
