Made for: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pre-Release Party

Chara Info: Tonks is an Auror, a Metamorphmagus (hence the crazy hair!), and a member of the Order of the Phoenix.

Why Her?: Tonks isn't my favorite character in Harry Potter (that honor goes to Ron!) but I like her well enough. The real reason I picked this costume was that I got a bug in my head 24 hours before the book premiere, and I happened to have a lavender wig on hand :P.

The Story: This is thrift store cosplay at its finest! I spent $30 between Joann and Savers and came up with something that resembles what Tonks wears in the OotP movie.

Everything was purchased the night before with the exception of the stockings, wig, and boots. I started with the lavender wig, cut it, and colored the roots black to better resemble Tonks' hair. The overcoat was modified by hammering in all of the silver snaps (there are 28 of the suckers!). The red striped shirt was originally a maternity-sized turtleneck turned into a sleeveless V-neck top. The excess fabric from the top was used to line the hood of the grey jacket. The gloves are my old Suu gloves chopped up. I did no mods on the rest of the outfit.

So it was last minute -- I had a blast wearing it! I even won first place at Borders for it ^_-.
